Despite all the hate this album is getting I really think it is their most "mature" one. People cannot expect from artists to compose the same music at a certain age as they would in their teens. I am not a music expert but all the songs seem pretty complex to me and I feel this album is really coming out of their hearts. It's been almost 10 years that I listen to the Arctic Monkeys and I love how they never cease to surprise me!

I work at this quiet bar downtown with the dim lighting that people come at the end of their long day to enjoy a drink and relax. Last night, just before we closed for the night, most of the clients had left and I felt in the mood to listen to the new Arctic Monkeys album because its that kind of music.
It fitted the mood perfectly. We had like 10 people left in the bar at that exact time and they were lightly swaying to the music, enjoying their drinks. One of the clients came up to me and asked me: "I have never heard of these songs before. Is this the Arctic Monkeys? Because it sounds like them, " and I said "Yeah, it's their new album. It was released like 5 days ago, " to which he replied: "I see. It's a bit jazzy and slower than usual but I like it. It makes me feel good."
And that's my answer to all the people saying that this new album is so different from the last ones and you don't like it. It still sounds like them. People recognise them. It's different but it's still beautiful. Very sensual, very slow. I would love to listen to it at the end of every day while having a good drink in my hand.
