Queen Mary in danger of capsizing

A new report reveals Queen Mary is in such bad shape, it needs repair or it's in danger of sinking,

she was handed over with the agreement that she could never sail under her own power again. Why not move her to dry dock or create a permanent concrete structure around her? Thats what they did with the SS Great Britain. She has a mirror pool on the waterline so it looks as if she is in the water, and you can walk underneath the "waterline" to see the submerged section of her hull. A similar thing could be done with the QM

Please try to save her. She is a rare commodity as ocean liners are vessels of the past. Queen Mary did bring home our WW2 soldiers. Let's honor her by keeping her intact.

It’s so sad to hear that such a historical and important vessel to maritime and even global history is being neglected and seen as a second priority. She is one of the last of her kind left and a relic of the golden era of ship building. I hope that she can be saved before she is lost.

Time to bring her home to the UK and berth her on the River Clyde where she was built in the thirties, or better still, in the King George V Graving Dock in Southampton which was designed for the maintenance of these amazing vessels. We can't lose the QM, she's the last surviving ocean liner from the prewar golden age of transatlantic travel.

I remember seeing the Queen Mary leave her home port of Southampton Uk for the last time in around November 1967 on her final voyage to USA.
She was an impressive sight.

The QM will never sail again, it doesn't have the engines to sail anymore, they should build a damn around it, get the it out of the sea water, anchor it to a concrete foundation, and make repairs to it. And it;s still an attraction in beautiful Long Beach.

Answer? Simple.

Fill in the water area with ballast or something so if she sinks, she’ll just land on that. To prevent capsizing, attach huge metal girders or something to the sides. She capsizes then, make a huge documentary about it and refloat her.

We can’t let the queen die. We already lost one to a fire, we can’t lose the other.

I loved seeing the Queen Mary in Long Beach! The haunted tour was incredible. I hope they preserve it. It would be fun to stay in it.

If the city wants to keep QM, they need to get her out of the water. Build high coffer dams, raise the water level and then back fill with concrete. It would cost a fortune but it would be permanent.

My last real vacation was Christmas week with two nights on the Queen Mary. It was amazing and needs to be saved!

I hope they spend the money and do the work properly. My wife and I stayed on her for a week for our honeymoon in Long Beach, and no it wasn't the standard of some of the hotels there but the sheer thrill of being in a cabin on that ship - the ambience, the art deco, and the food was good too!
