Today we are tuning our guitar to open G and exploring this classic blues tuning that is popular among the original blues masters Skip James, Elmore James and Big Broony and all the other giants from the delta as well as modern electric guitar blues rock giants like Keith Richards, Lindsey Buckingham and Jimmy Page.

At first we will walk you through the tuning and how to get in tune, after we will look at some general hot spots on the guitar neck, and then we will look at the shuffles that you need to play over the G, C and D chords. After we will add a turnaround and then the final little cherry on top is going to nice beginner blues turnaround to make your blues complete AND a bonus little lick that plays on the minor third/major third ambiguity that exists in blues music.

This is excellent. In high school I tried to learn guitar but switched to bass because I couldn't play bar chords. Thanks to your lesson I have a handle on it. I wish you and youTube had been around back then but I was born to play bass anyways. You teach at just the right speed and great detail like a beginner such as myself. Tuning to open g, I've taken off the low e string a la Kieth and replaced it with a high g string tuned to g.
It plays fab like that on my fender acoustic.
