For every cigarette you smoke, God takes 10 minutes of your life and gives it to Keith Richards

The fact that one of the coolest guitarists in the world can say he’s still learning .
One love to all.

I was never able to play Keith's riffs back in the 70's. Now you tell me they were all in Open G.

That's the beauty of guitar, you will always be learning something new and discover something old. :)

Keith is so...Keith. Guitar legend, bad boy of rock and roll, and wise sage. No one else like him.

For "walking death" the man keeps going like the energizer bunny. Currently learning Wild Horses and You Can't Always Get What You Want, in Open G. Simple, but pure genius, really.

What an utterly fascinating individual Keith Richards is - in my top 3 of “People I’d Most Like To Have Dinner With”.

I walked into a guitar shop in Eugene, Oregon twenty five years ago and heard a guy playing in Open G tuning. He showed me how to tune this way. I immediately started playing in Open G and got that Stones' sound. Before long I graduated to five string, Open G tuning and I as off and running. It is almost like playing a different instrument.

The way that he moves the right hand right after the strums is unique, and isn't just pose. This change the playing, the sounds.

My band tried hard to do a few Stones songs, they just never sounded right. Then we discovered open g tuning. We still sounded like crap, but we sounded a lot closer to the real thing.

Kieth's tunings are a large part of what makes Kieth Kieth and the Stones the Stones. Love it.

Great advice. Got to respect Keith in that he is a master of that big fat sound as well as intricate riffs and voicing support, both in large arenas as well as recording. I played on a large stage once, was totally lost, everything changes, to be able to step into venues like that like it ain't know thing is a highly adaptable music talent. Got to remember Keith isn't just a guitar player, here he plays pretty good keyboard if inclined to do so

If you look at Keith through the lens of a rhythm player and not lead, there's a strong argument for him being in the top 3 of all time. Bo Diddley and Chuck berry being my other two. That being said it's all subjective depending on what your into.

A hold over from banjo open G. Read his book! I play both and agree, you can create amazing chords.

I was playing in open G before I knew Keef used it.. I was fiddling around with "brown sugar" thinking how can it be that easy and sound right at the same time... Then I read his book... >lightbulb<

I'm not sure but I think Keith is gradually turning into a living cigarette
