LPT and parallel are the same thing. It is possible for a PC to have up to three parallel ports: LPT1, LPT2, and LPT3. Anyway, that thing runs Windows 3.1 surprisingly quickly.

it more so was a slimmed down thinkpad cause it did have a small os as compaired to the emate where the emate had more of a newton os as the ibm had windows ce and a pentium processor. there were also 2 sets of batteries used a regular standard battery for regular power and then the settings type battery but this one used aaa or aa batteries as the backup settings battery. i will have to find one and show u

Bought one of these recently, however it was the 386SLC model (2141-S82), backlight still works but the display seems to be dead... can still output to external VGA however (I tried reseating all display connectors and fiddling with brightness/contract controls)

Phil Harrison would be the guy that bought it new. Back then IBM offered a nameplate for the machine with your name on it if you filled out a card that came with the laptop and sent it in.

That name plate "Phil Harris" is NOT the case designer. It was the name of the original owner. How do I know? I bought new and still have my old IBM PS Note 425. When you turned in your warranty card, you were sent in the mail a little name plate that you pasted in the upper right-hand corner. My plate has my name on it.

ONE WARNING!!! Don't open and close the case too many times. These old PS Notes were notorious for having the lids crack at the hinge. You should reinforce yours with epoxy and a metal plate before yours comes apart.

Phil Harrison didn't design the case - that's just a nametag that you could order to personalize the PS/Note when you bought it - I have the same machine that I bought brand new from a JC Penney and it has my name on it.

LoL, reminds my of my old HP Omnibook, though it had no backlight, and the model up from it could run on AA's for like 6hrs.. :D We used to do so much with very little resources; just goes to show how lazy we've become with coding these days.
