If you've been salivating for some real innovation from a relative unknown at MWC 2013, Moscow-based Yotaphone has the device for you. The company's new smartphone features an e-ink screen dominating the rear side of the unit, which can display anything from notifications to ebooks to Google Maps images. That's complimented on the front side by an identically-sized 4.3-inch 720p display, and the whole shebang runs Android 4.2. Take a gander at our eyes-on experience, then stay tuned for more!

Every year when summer comes around I start dreaming of e-ink smartphone, because you simply cannot see a damn thing on your phone when it's sunny.

Seems like an ideal notifications center that can stay on permanently. Like to see this on other phones just not as big as this maybe. Cool phone

Even if the ink screen useless now .However, it's the beginning of a brilliant idea in the near future.

Just think about this. This can work. If you're the main screen dies(the colored one) you can use the other one which uses less power consumption. I'm liking how faded the grey screen looks. They should make the prints a little more darker though. Over all, this is a very useful phone and it has a market for those that want something interesting, plus it's a conversation starter.

FINALLY SOMETHING NEW AND FRESH!!!! I was tired of the specs race... like I don't think I need more than a quad core processor... I use 6 gb of data a month.. and honestly it's fast enough... Just would like stronger LTE coverage.. but it's fine how it is... I will probably get this phone if it comes out!

This device seemed stupid when I saw it at first, but this video changed my mind.

Sick. I still carry around a Kobo with my phone because I prefer reading a lot of text on the ink screen. This is something else

This is really cool! Not sure how it would be in practise with the back of the phone responding to touch... Also I wonder about how good that e-ink screen actually looks compared to a real e-reader. And its kind of a shame the screen is smaller, I have a 4.7" Android phone and it's way too big, but for e-ink I would definitely want a larger screen.

you cant lie it is usless to a power house phone of today but it is really COOL

it would be awesome if e-ink has a deep black that resembles the body of the phone (like it was painted)
