Day one of US President Donald Trump's impeachment trial began with House managers, including Representatives Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler, holding a news conference.
A separate news conference was then held by Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, along with Senators Dick Durbin, Patty Murray, and Debbie Stabenow as the politicians tried to control the pre-trial narrative.
