NASA | GROVER Heads to Greenland

NASA is ready to test a new student-designed rover at the Summit Camp in Greenland, a research station sitting on a two-mile thick sheet of ice. The Goddard Remotely Operated Vehicle for Exploration and Research, or GROVER, carries ground-penetrating radar capable of measuring snow accumulation over time.

A vertical windmill is usually less efficient because every time a vane is pushed by the wind, the opposite vane is pushed into the wind. Vane shape makes them usable, but you're still losing a lot of power. Also you'd have to build it from scratch since you probably can't get vertical turbines that small, so more expensive.

I'm just surprised they didn't put the tracks further apart.

It would be good to research across Antartica - the ice cracks, super high wind speeds and the cold may quite the challenge. With Antartica being several times the size of Australia - up to 4 times in Winter - I vote not being on the recovery team.

Very cool . ow will those solar collector hold out in the high winds . They do have tornado like storms, do they not ??

Awesome idea but I hope so more planing is being do on the solar panels?
Right now they are too upright the storm and the sands on mars will make a mess of them and most possibly blow it over.... you know what a F1 or F2 storm or tornado can do to a Mack truck right?
