The thing that's bugging me out is how stiff their upper bodies are while doing the walking/climbing up the stairs, and the way the knees are bent too much that it looks like they have very very long legs. Def not noticeable when running though.

It still looks quite weird, normally people hunch over a little to maintain balance while walking up stairs. Here their backs are fully straight lol

Moral of the story: design the stairs properly (by not making its steps TOO WIDE! for their legs to walk in) so the way characters walk over the said stairs (regardless of how polish their animation physics are) aren't as buggy as 1.0

I was just admiring this the other day when I was running around on some roof and noticed how when i stopped on an uneven surface the characters feet were actually planted at slightly different heights rather than just clipped through the surface or whatever. The crazy thing is that each leg was actually in natural position for where each foot was. It's not 100% perfect cos sometimes a foot will still 'float' slightly in the air but it's probably some of the best work I've seen in a game for this type of thing.

What would make it more natural is if they hunched a bit forward (as much as I hate to say it) like genshin. And let's not mention the leg movement cuz it's a little weird no matter how you look at it.

good enough but more improvement is required, the upper body section is stiff which is not how our body reacts. When you walk on a stair you bend your upper area slightly to adjust the center of gravity.
