With the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, now might be the best time to buy the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Not only is it still a very good device and has aged fine, it is pretty much the same device as the Fold 5 for the most part, as that has just minor upgrades. This is my review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 a year after its release.

I love the small outer screen of the fold. It makes the phone both small and big at the same time.

Bought Samsung fold 4 13 months ago... and as predicted even with best care, using cases the foldable screen broke.... not because of drop but it started with a protective film peeling off( bubling). Samsung offers 1 time free foldable screen protection replacement but before I even managed to book an appointment (they're really busy) the peeled off screen protector cought the flexible screen in the wrong place and whilst opening the device it broke the inside screen. It is sent under warranty. But having to go through all of this this was my first and therefore last foldable device I bought. Even just knowing that this screen will break again after the repair makes me anxious and not enjoying it as much. And I bought the 4th generation thinking the issues would have been fixed by now... but clearly tech is not there. I want an expensive phone like this to last 4 years... not having to think about repairing the screen ever 12 month (even with my carefull and small usage)

It's a great phone, software wise but I really prefer the Pixel Fold for its form factor especially the cover display.

Mine stopped taking charge exactly 1 year and 2 months later but I can turn it on with the low-watt charger. Ubreakifix says it's the battery ($130), the Samsung Galaxy store says it's the motherboard ($500), and the Samsung care center says I need to replace the battery and screen which cost 650 bucks. 😢

Pretty much same situation as you, had to replace s22U and decided for the fold 4 back in December. Other then the annoying spot of the flashlight I've had zero regrets about going for the fold 4

No real reason to upgrade to the Fold5 if one has the Fold4 unless one gets a trade-in deal, which I doubt we have here

New subscriber! Love my Z Fold 4. I got it a month ago & I'm good with not waiting on the 5. I will be ready for the 6 or 7 when that time comes. Hopefully more apps will be optimized by then. Great video!

I have the Z Fold 4 but for some reasons I stopped using it. Still in excellent condition with no issue at all but I am not able to get used to the foldable phone design. I spend most of my time using the smaller outer skin which is not as big and comfortable compared to a normal smartphone. I spend about 20% of my time using the bigger inner screen and so I ask myself what's the point? Why not just use a regular phone? The other reason is anxiety. Constantly opening and closing the phone remains a worry and also the possibility of losing or breaking it is always on my mind. So I have been using the budget Moto G 5G 2022 instead and very happy with it. I'll probably get another foldable but I think Samsung really has to come up with a better design. Maybe make it a bit more slimmer. They can also change the aspect ratio.

Battery life, speed, runs cool, multitasking, hand notes and a great display. Everything I need. My only major concern is the film on the inside edge of the large display catching the tip of the stylus and makes writing to the edge of the screen annoying.

I feel is better to go for the fold 4 now because thr fold 5 is quite pricey and the fold 4 can be gotten almost half the price of the fold 5 and still deliver the almost the same performance.
