Over 40 years ago all of us into the brand new sport of Windsurfing had Casios on our wrists. The double beep of the hour notifier rang round the pub for about 30 seconds as we recuperated after a long day out on the water at Hayling Island (UK’s home of windsurfing in the 80’s).

To this day I’m still wearing a Casio ProTrek in my on water role and tucked away in the cabin of my boat is one of those £20 FW thingy Casios. They are truly bomb proof and have been flung across the beach and dipped in beer to show the great Rolex owners how watches can be utility and iconic at the same time.

Keep it up Jodie, you’ve saved me thousands by recommending Paganis finest Rolex and Omega homages. At those prices they can be worn to pull the anchor up and tie off boats without fear of £10, 000 dropping to the seabed…

Brilliant work sir 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Cheap Casios are perfect beater watches. Mine is 14 years old, and scratched to hell. But it still works, and it has a mulitude of useful functions. It goes with me to work every day.

Your timing is impeccable, as always, Jody. I've been watching and reading reviews of Casios over the last day or two, and bought a few online as well. I couldn't ask for more than a quick summing-up from you. Thanks!

The Duro is amazing value for money.

My stw100 sports multitimer I got for my birthday in 1990 is now worn daily by my son. Cheap as chips back then and keeps on ticking even after 33 years.

A couple of months ago I bought the Casio Fishingear (WS-1200H-2AVCF). So gimmicky, so cool and only 20 dollars now! A good light, 3 alarms, a stopwatch, a countdown, dual time, a moonphase and FISHES. And I don't even fish! Even the band is likeable!

Brilliant video. I've had a Duro for 2 years. Incredible watch. Cheers.

Instead of f-91w I recommend casio w-59. It's almost the same watch, but with 50m water resistance instead of 30m. I swim with it with no problem. It's even more retro- year of release is 1982 (f-91w is from 1989). Price is also $ 10. I'd love to see your review of it, it's definitely worth it

My fiancee, a veterinary technician, was buying cheap $5 watches from wall-mart and they kept getting slowly chewed up (sometimes literally) by the animals she worked with - claws, teeth, fluids... had to buy a new watch every four to six months.

So I bought her an F91W and it's lasted four years now, barely a scratch on it, despite the same rough environment. Worth every penny!

Jody, I like the short. Great idea. I have two Duros myself.

I think the short format is useful, so long as you keep them as informative as this one. I look forward to your top five Citizens (I'm very patient😁)

DANG. Five watches in one minute! I'm impressed :D

I went with the stainless A168 'cause it's just a bit larger and more legible than the F91. Love the Duro (which I got 'cause of your enthusiasm for it). I've actually got a CFX-200 that my granddad bought in 1982 or 3 but at just $30 I might have to get one of the new calculator watches. Lastly there's the MTP-4500 which is just a smidge over 50 clams, but still dirt cheap for an analog chrono with a slide rule dial. It's a watch that doesn't get near the love it deserves. At 1% the cost of a Navitimer, what's not to like? :D My wife had a first gen G-Shock, but alas, I think we've lost it. Gap in the collection that needs filling, that!

People tend to ignore the Enticer and the Edifice lineups

Excellent list, I have the Royale and the Square, my wife has an A159W reminding her of her college days, originally released in 1987 and a salmon colour LW204 both around $40. There is such a huge selection of Casios available it's confusing. I had a look at another seller here in Istanbul for that Tiffany blue Casio but no luck! If I can find one I'll let everyone know!

Recently bought a Tough Solar, for £35 UK: comfy, tells the time, recognises preset time zones, has alarms (which I don’t use), has tiny digital screen with time that lights up: what is not to like? And also have the Pepsi duro (without the Marlin)

I have at least one example of each of these watches in my collection, and it’s thanks to you, Jody..your videos helped get me started in watch collecting, and I’ve never gone wrong buying a watch you’ve recommended!!

Some more:

This one is probably a better choice than the F91W for most people:

Casio W-217H-9AVCF. Larger, more legible equivalent of the F91W with much better backlight, 50m WR. $16 at Amazon US.

This one has a choice in bezel colors (red and orange seem to be missing on Amazon right now):

Casio W-96H. 10 year battery life, 3 line display which always shows local time, stopwatch, dual time, 50m WR. Perpetual calendar. $20-ish.

Blacked out small watch for those who are into minimalism or wear all black:

Casio LW-204-1BEF: small screen, stopwatch, timer, decent backlight. 30m WR, no swimming. Perpetual calendar. Not super readable. $22.

My W-800H is almost 10 years old, on a nato strap, and I love it. Please make more shorts, you can’t have too much Jody.
