It’s funny that Rolex has this perception in America but in Switzerland (where these watches are all made) a steel Rolex is basically standard issue and not much of a flex. I wear a basic no date submariner and specifically chose it (a decade ago) BECAUSE it wasn’t flashy.

Interesting topic. I’ll play. I wear anything from Omega, Rolex, Jaeger LeCoulte and drive anything from Porsche, Jeep, and Harley Davidson. Not interested in attention, but every now and then one of the above gets me there unfortunately.

I buy expensive Omegas, because they are just fewer of them than Rolex. Spookily, occasionally, I am James Bond( in my head) when no one is looking. Honestly though, just about to buy my first Rolex so not sure what that means.

What if you've owned your Rolex for 35 years & bought before they were really expensive (though for the time they weren't cheap) I hope that makes it a little less "flexing" - but how would people know how long you've had it.

For me Rolex are submariner or the GMTII.
The GMTII is the watch for a lang haul airline pilot
who first question after he reach the hotel is
"Where is the gym?". He loves about his GMTII
that it is derived from dive watch so he can wear
at pool or on the beach. He car the rental he get
on his destination.

Great videos. The only real disagreement I have with you is I see Panerai as more of a Lambo owner's watch and Richard Mille as a Ferrari owner's watch. Richard Mille is their Formula 1 team sponsor.

I'm a former Naval Aviator, so I guess it's not surprising that I own a Rolex GMT II, with the Coke bezel. I also own a Grand Seiko, limited edition "Katana." I currently drive an Acura RDX, primarily because I can fit four people and 4 golf bags in it. If I didn't need that room, I would likely drive a Porsche 911. I drove a 1974 911S back in the day and it's like driving a bank vault down the road, it's so solid.
