I bought a bicycle tire tube about 15 years ago and have been using a piece of that to protect my bass drum hoop. It also works to secure clamps that won’t stay in place.

on the topic of bass drum hoop protection: i just folded a drumstick's paper sleeve on there, works like a charm, i already have a couple of them around the studio so no worries on ever needing to buy stuff for that

Best drum accessory is second floor tom to put your beer on.

Every vintage kit I have, has a bass drum anchor. Yes, the rubber ends work well. TIP: Use a small washer in the bottom of floor tom legs/etc., to stop pegs from poking through rubber ends.

Extra tip: If you use the bass drum anchor rubber side down, don't walk around the kit with bare feet 😳

To protect my bass drum, i just stick a moleskin pad around the hoop where i clamp the bass drum.
