Hello Thank you for your clue. It is helpful. But does the clue of isolating the first column (example in using 3-by-matrix) in order to get a square matrix hold everytime? Again, is it applicable to cases like 4-by-3 matrix where you can also isolate the first row to get a square matrix and then use the determinant approach to find the rank? Please help.
