I know 6 years to late for the party. But the "Gaster" theme that is playing while encountering a Temmie is the same jingle that plays at the beginning of Metal Crusher, the OST that plays when you fight Metatton.

Bro the fact that 7 years later the community is still alive really goes to show how amazing of a game this was (and still is). Clearly left an impact on games. For some reason, every time I see a video with Monster Kid Goner saying "But it's not raining." I get reminded of the song that plays when you're having dinner with Sans, which is called "It's Raining Somewhere Else"

Probably a stretch but i have a theory that his "experiment" was the Deltarune Universe. He created this so monsters could happily live in the overworld. This would make sense because the goal of the scientist of the underground was to find a way to get out and restore peace. The "darkness" he's referring to may be the dark fountains spreading throughout the earth leading to the Dark Worlds

My opinion on gaster:
Gaster ACTUALLY scared me alot when I learned more about him. And the line "Its Rude Too Talk About Someone Who's Watching." Is terrifying.

also theres this quick secret i found, if your doing a neutral/pacifist run (you have to hang out with papyrus to get his number) and in a specific place in hotland, he would say "oh your near core?" and if you try to call him back he would just say "..." with his sad face
