I have to say that Machiavelli represent a politic line or philosophy, he wasn't a "machiavellic person" as you describe here, but a real lover of ancient Rome's republic!
But this choice is amazing and for me have sense 🎉🎉

Geez, that's actually a really good choice for a leader. I'm quite a fan of the choice to decouple civs and leaders, and allow people who were less outright rulers and more spiritual leaders to take the stage, this is super cool

So you're playing a multiplayer lobby, there's a player on the other side of the map, they're not even thinking about you, you levy units from his city states, upgrade them and declare a surprise ''formal war'' in one turn. If you're lucky, they'd used those units and upgraded them themselves.
