After 15 years of Intel processors, Apple is expected to announce its transition to its own ARM chips at WWDC 2020. These new chips will power future generations of MacBooks and iMacs, and allow Apple to deliver more power-efficient Macs with sharper graphic and faster speeds. Macworld's Michael Simon and Computerworld executive editor Ken Mingis join Juliet to discuss why Apple is ditching Intel, when you can buy ARM-powered Macs and what to expect out of the new machines. In all the discussion about ARM I haven't heard any speculation regarding what happens to Thunderbolt and what kind of connectivity changes will be in store. That may well be one of the biggest pain point for users who need TB3 bandwidth.

Do you all think that this will effect software tools like Google's Flutter which generates native apps for Android and Apple phones? Add to that cross platform development platforms like Electron.

ARM will not be faster then anything Intel has to offer. It will be slower, a lot slower. It will be however a Lot More power efficient. For Mobile devices ARM is going to be way more battery friendly. Intel just lost another piece of the market share.
