THE QUIET MAN ('52) | Final Fight Scene ☘️🤜

When filming this final scene of THE QUIET MAN ('52), Maureen O'Hara did not use a stunt double and got an array of bruises on her body after being dragged by John Wayne.

In addition to this #BTS info, John Wayne also revealed that the fighting was heavily stylized, using "roundhouse" punches rather than the typical short punches a real fighter would use for a better visual effect on camera. 🤜

I’m 71 and this is still my all time favorite movie. Loved Maureen O’Hara.

Oh i adore this film, its one of my very favourites, and in my opinion the best that John Wayne did, and Maureen nothing more needs to be said.

O'Hara never became super popular in Hollywood because she wouldn't take a page out of the Jeffrey Weinstein play book so producers always down graded her to the bottom of all the lists. But John Wayne respected her so he used her whenever he could.

The fight scene goes on for more than 3 1/2 minutes now. I think it’s closer to 10 in the movie! Great scene from a Great & Timeless movie.

I don't care what anyone says, both Hollywood and the world was better before silicon and CGI.

I like how Barry Fitzgerald asks for his "parabellum" which is the proper name for a Luger Pistol, which is a P (Parabellum) 08. or a Null Acht in German.

Great film. Even more engaging when you realize that John Wayne's character did not, want to fight (and why). Go watch the movie!

Boo! It's barely the beginning of the fight. The whole thing is on YouTube somewhere.
The one problem with this scene is that they did not take dramatic advantage of the fact that Thornton is supposed to be professional prize fighter. John Wayne, and or his stunt double, could have learned how to assume a boxing stance and make basic boxing moves, so that we could have seen his skill gradually prevail over the Danaher's greater physicality. Instead, we just get the impression of a mere brawl, with most of the fight hidden behind the crowd of spectators.
