Matthew Horsley on an Introduction to The Wines of Greece

One of the oldest winemaking regions of the world; Greek winemaking is steeped in history and entwined in the country's culture. And yet for some time now, its quality has been pegged against cheap retsina and ambiguous jugs on holidays by the sea.

But all that is changing. Greek wine is in the midst of a transformation and fast becoming a producer of 'wines to watch.'

Join Matthew Horsley as he gives Members an overview of the Greek wine scene (and what to look out for).

Really interesting presentation. Thanks. I have dabbled with Greek wine in recent times. I will take a look at what the Society has on offer at the moment.

Brilliant introduction to Greek wine! Would love to hear more about more obscure grapes and regions. I am a Greek wine enthusiast.

Excellent thanks (sorry I missed the live showing - diary failure). We were supposed to be going to Greece in May and are hoping to go in September so now I know what to look out for :) Will make myself up a mixed Greek case (unless you have one already).

I missed the live version too and am only now just catching up. Confused as I am drinking a glass of ATMA White.. a blend of the red wine grape featured here, Xinomavro, and Malagousia. Tastes fine enough anyway 😊
