⮕Sparkling wine is a wine with significant levels of carbon dioxide in it, making it fizzy. While the phrase technically refers to champagne, European Union countries legally reserve that term for the wines that are exclusively produced in the Champagne region of France.

The bubbly beverage is usually either white or rosé with a range of sweetness. Typical flavors in sparkling wine can be citrus, apple, toast, nuttiness and vanilla. High quality and vintage Champagnes and sparkling wines tend to be more creamy and toasty. Wines such as Prosecco tends to be more light and fruity.
