“I believe, much to my sorrow, because I've been a lifelong supporter of it, that it is probably dead now.”

Prof. Chuck Freilich, former deputy national security advisor in Israel says he believes this war has killed the two state solution. “Restating a mantra that isn’t going to happen isn’t very conducive”.

In reality, the two-state solution ended the moment the Palestinian/Arab coalition decided to engage in a war of extermination against the Jews in 1948-49; a zero-sum game. Had the Arabs won, Israel would have died. But Israel won, so as a matter of fair zero-sum game proportionality...

There are already two states - Israel and Jordan. Arabs who call themselves Palestinians should be given two options: to stay as peaceful, law-abiding citizens of Israel, or to go to Jordan as peaceful, law-abiding citizens.

Arabs have repeatedly rejected a two-state solution since 1947, most recently Arafat and then Abbas both rejected a 2 state soluton.
In both Gaza, and in the so called West Bank, most of the Arabs there, when asked, say they do not want a 2 state solution.

It was never an option as long as a terrorist group was the “government” of the palestines.

It's not exactly an option when the other side doesn't recognize the other's right to exist.

What are you talking about? Palestinians have never wanted a two state solution. Never.

Hamas and Hezbollah and IRGC proxies have never found a two state solution acceptable. No Arabic Sunni government has ever been able to influence that. IRGC does not represent Iranian people, just fundamental mullahs.

Jordan had Black September in 1970. Not sure why the West expects Israel to be able to achieve a peaceful resolution and coexistence with the Palestinians’ unwavering commitment to the belief they have a right to possess the entire region—all of it.

Holding hostages feels hollow

It wasn't the Gaza war which killed the two-state solution. It was already dead long before that. October 7th was the death certificate. The Gaza war and its correlates in Lebanon and (soon) Iran rather constitute one (or more) of the necessary stages of grieving.

Meantime with the world the most dangerous in our life times and the only power than matters being hard power, Labour gives up sovereign British territory and makes us look utterly feckless and weak in process. Dangerous and wrong.

The two state solution is a lot of PR for Western governments who keep kissing the backside of the Arabs due to oil. A Palestinian state would be a welfare state like Gaza has been for decades, and would attack Israel thru terrorists from Gaza and the West Bank. Israel is settling the barren vacant lands in the West Bank per the Oslo accords (which neither side ever intended to accept) which will make giving back the West Bank impossible. The Palestinians need to decide if they want to keep fighting and lose everything, or find a way of peace like the Arab Israels have.

If iseal wants to remain a jewish state a two state solution is in their best interest otherwise give everyone equally rights in one state
