Really liked how he used diy tools and nothing fancy so that common people can also do the repair without spending a ton on various tools.

I swear this is the only video on YouTube that has done this correctly. Great vid.

I placed a strip of clear “scotch” tape with a hole over the rock chip to minimize the collateral damage from sanding. I liked your video. Well done.

I see all the comments about, "this won't work with metallic paint". The key with metallics is to use as little color as possible just enough for coverage but not enough to build above the surface, so that you don't actually sand the color...it sits below the surface. Then build up your clear for sanding. Sure, the repaired area might be a little more noticeable than with a solid color, but it'll be a heck of a lot better than looking at a rusty area. Patience is the key. If you got a hood full of rock chips then you're probably better off repainting the hood but I think this method would work well for 10 chips or less. This is definitely the best paint chip video on YouTube.

I feel like this taught me everything I need to know to fix a few chips in my vehicle’s paint without spending a ton of money. I can’t wait to get started! I’ll probably get carried away and polish the whole car….
Edit: I’m reading lots of comments from people who clearly know more about bodywork than I do, raving about what a great video this is. I’m so glad I came to the right place first.

had a chip/ding on brand new car. Nervous they'd have to repaint whole door but man i cant even see your chip anymore. I must just be imagining the situation is more dire. Thanks for helping with my anxiety.

Old school paper matches are also great for applying paint to small areas

I like how he explained this in 5 minutes.. I’ve seen videos that explain it in 17-22 and I forget what they’re even talking about..

This is great, I’ve been struggling with a Chipfix kit trying to get good results to no avail. This method seems more reliable.

I was looking for a video to send to my daughter, and like the comment below, FINALLY found someone who did it right - old school! great job! I grew up using a paper match to apply a very small amount of paint with, works great....you used the wood pieces, very similar
