Does Eating Burnt Orange Really Bring Back Taste and Smell?

A recent study found that about 86% of people who have COVID-19 lose some or all of their ability to smell - but can it be reversed? A viral video claims that eating a burnt orange can bring your sense of smell back, but does it work? On social media, lots of desperate people are giving it a shot, and getting mixed reviews. Inside Edition conducted an experiment with photojournalist Matt Newey, who hasn’t been able to taste or smell for months. #InsideEdition

Not the worst form of backwoods cures.

I don't normally trust Tik Tok, but this doesn't seem to be able to harm you, and unless scientists create a medicine that can fix your loss of taste and smell, I'm going to try this.

Perhaps, they should try it more than once. Some medicines take awhile before a person sees improvement. Either once a day or twice a day for 6 weeks, etc?!

Most probably people who say the taste came back should be faking it

So I lost my sense of taste and smell because of COVID and hearing that the guy hasn’t been able to taste or smell anything in the past 10 months scares me because I just wanna enjoy a meal😪😭

Me and my wife tried this last year when we got covid and this worked for me but not my wife. I think it has to do how much lost of taste you have, i had 15-20% taste buds working prior to doing burnt orange trick vs wife which actually had 0% taste. I assume it only helps if you still have a bit of taste buds still sensing flavor vs not having any at all

Covid took away my sense of smell completely for 4 months. Then it got worse, my smell came back, but came back wrong, it's called parosmia, and it's been 4 additional months with that, for a total of 8 months since I could smell correctly. Having no smell was 100 times better than having parosmia, almost everything smells absolutely terrible now and I can't even enjoy my favorite foods anymore, I know many people have worse problems but it's honestly so depressing

5 months... still can’t smell or taste fully. This looks like some good vitamin C but that’s it.

Can't blame the people for trying. When I heard about the loss of smell and taste all I could think about was, that's gotta be one of the top 10 ways to live. Can you imagine not being able to enjoy food anymore for the rest of your life? It's certainly not as bad as living blind, or deaf etc but I just feel for them; that's one of the main reasons that I'm scared of Covid (along with the possibility of dying of course)

It's supposed to be burnt orange & brown sugar. Nobody in our house has caught Covid (yet), but we have friends & family who have & this worked for them. Even the one that didn't have brown sugar but did have black strap molasses got their smell & taste back this way. Had one that was so grateful it worked she tried to give me $50 because I picked them up for her when I did my grocery shopping.

I really don’t trust a app that was a trend to overdose on a drug.
