overall I enjoyed this book - I also questioned the zoe girl relation as I'd never heard of them LOL! there's a tone throughout though that seems anger/hurt/resentment at her church experience and I can definitely understand as I've had it as well and am so tired of being suspicious of every author

I am a Christian myself and would like to remind other Christians that there has never been such a thing as an authentic Gospel or Bible. Gospel accounts are not historical or literal facts about Jesus. They were written many decades after Jesus died and are proclamations of faith, not the actual words of Jesus. However by reading those words we can get a glimpse of who Jesus really was, a kind, loving human being who welcomed everyone, a far cry from the rubbish we keep hearing from fundamentalists about who is in and who is out when it comes to been a Christian. Alissa Childers unfortunately happens to be one of them .
