As an adult my phone is now a necessity for everything I do, but as a teenager it really was just a luxury and I knew that. I don’t even like to ask my parents for anything that I know they would help with because I want to be able to do things on my own. Even when money is tight and I know that they would help with that I don’t ask for it even if I go hungry for a bit until payday. I work hard for what I have now and I don’t take any of it for granted.

A phone is definitely a necessity in this day and age. Most schools ( atleast in my country ) uses phones to organize and distribute homeworks/school works in general. Not to mention its dangerous to not have a phone with you if you're going out; never know what could happen outside; its not like a payphone would be helpful when you're in a dangerous situation--if you even find one; cause i barely see them anymore 😭

I can understand a teenager (or a kid +10 years old) needing a phone if they have extracurricular activities - especially if they don't live near the school. It helps with the organization of things.

For high school a phone is actually necessary, so many teachers ask tou to use teams, kahoots, quizlets in class. You can of course set limits on how long the have access to unnecessary apps, like social media and set a shut down time. But he does need a smart phone

Gotta say that no Fluffy, yeah it's just luxury for the most part but we actually need it for online activities at school or for like better communication especially if there's a group project. Also my school just doesn't GAF if a student don't have phone they'll still make a fucking online activity, they don't give a damn if you miss it or not

Cell phones for teens are a necessity when it comes to the social aspect. Most friends will make plans, and talk on their phone if you don’t have one it will make it MUCH harder to keep those friendships

my reasoning when i was a kid was that i had a lot of trouble making friends at school, but by texting or using social media, it made it much easier to keep in touch, and didnt make me feel anxious

As a high schooler, I nearly had panic attack a few months back because my grandma was supposed to pick me up from ASL club and forgot. I was outside waiting for like 20 minutes then I (attempted) to go back inside but all the doors were locked. The only reason I was able to contact my mom was because thank the lord the cheerleaders/color guard (don’t remember which) had practice and let me in, and then the main office was locked but thankfully as I was descending into madness the janitor let me into the office to contact someone.

Resume building, = portfolio=phone, shelter, food, utilities (i e. Water, lights, heat, air conditioning, car, insurances house/health/car/ appliance? When do we teach the children? Watching us, practicing our lifestyles enough? Angels get needs too. How do we repay without sharing resources to help get volunteers- employees= community services that help each other in good ways.... Dad, if the phone is a luxury for him/her why do you have one? What does the child use/ utilize it for besides peer pressure, bullying, learning more about life safely/ unsafely depending on what Dad and Mom use theirs for? Do we want responsible children? What are our(parents) gaps in education? What do wii do not what we say do🎉🎉🎉❤ what do we try to get them to practice social skills? Is life really habit of kindness of action and thoughtfulness ( meditations)?

Not sure if this is an older set, but cell phones are definitely a necessity now unfortunately. Even I as a twenty something wish they weren’t. Assignments and appointments are all virtual!!

I'm gonna have to disagree here.

There are many things that could go horribly wrong when a teenager (or anyone) goes outside and they can't always count on finding a charitable stranger who will make that phone call.

A "luxury" would be having the latest iphone.
