This song was played at my grandma's funeral. Her funeral was today, and today was her birthday. She would have been 98. "Get Here" touched my heart. I get emotional listening to this song. It's peaceful, genuine, and true. You learn how people are and whose really there. My grandma was the matriarch in our family. She lived through history: the great depression, world war II, the civil rights movement, covid-19, etc. Grandma was always there and ready to help and support every way she could. I'm glad she's at peace with my best friend, God. Grandma is an angel watching over us. Her spirit and legacy forever lives on. R.I.P. Grandma Elnora, until we meet again.

I spent so much time listening to/singing this song while in a long-distance relationship with my boyfriend back in 2000... He was in Calgary, Alberta and I was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was back before FaceTime and Skype. My arms would ache from wanting to wrap them around him. I cried sometimes from missing him. Every once in a blue moon, I'd wonder why I was putting myself through all this.

I remember tearing up when they played this song during the gulf war and there were soldiers' messages interspersed with the song. Her voice is haunting. I've experienced this exactly what she's saying in this song. I am in Tennessee and fell in love with a Minister in New York. We were more alike than anyone I've ever known. No man in Tennessee could reach me like he could. He held So deep in my heart . ❤️. And I would do anything possible to meet be with him. I got on a bus once in a raging snow storm going up North. I wanted to get away from my usual atmosphere but most of all just to be be physically near him and with him. . Though God had other plans for me and His ways are much higher than our own.
