Using a SpaceMouse Pro with Solidworks Tips - 3DConnexion

This is how I use the SpaceMouse Pro in Solidworks. I share my shortcuts, setup and tips to improve your work flow in CAD.

Even though the SpaceMouse Pro has made me faster its main benefit is ergonomic and I suffer from much less hand pain during long CAD sessions. It's a device that now I use, I couldn't go back!

Hi, good to see someone else using the Spacemouse who had seen improvements in hand pain!

I use the alt key (on the keyboard) along with the side arrows to rotate the screen incrementally which is useful, but hadn't set this up with the Spacemouse yet. I'll be giving this a go!

You were asking about the alt key, and I noticed you set button 3 to construction geometry.. Alt & C changes a line to construction :) Great demo by the way.. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the video. Me and my engineering design using Solidworks 8-10 hours a day. I think it will take time getting use to. I will try one 1st before buying for everyone.

Im getting one for Maya and 3D Studio MAX. Its really odd there isnt a dedicated undo button on any of them. ALT is used in Maya, I also wonder if you can use the wheel to transform the object in maya or max

I think it would be better to learn to use it right-handed or use your numpad for digits. In case of rsi I think you'll get it with this as well if you use it a lot. But I would like to try it.

Hey can u tell me, if I want to make 2d sketch like, line circle etc for that i need different mouse or I can do it with the only this one

By looking at your workflow, I think the only benefit I see is the option to rotate smoothly but who care on smooth rotation? I can just press shift and hold down the scroll button and I'm rotating, release shift and I pan, press my shortcuts and I have either, rectangle shape, circle same or line, then dimension right away or just use the onscreen dimensions after the first point. I think I'm already fast as it is, don't really see the benefit of this tool. Kinda hard to navigate I would say in the dark if you can't see the buttons. I come from Solidworks but currently learning Fusion 360 as it is more Hobbyist and community friendly :)

But, if you switch to the perspective view, then the mouse becomes practically unusable. The bug has been around since the first release of Solidworks, drives me crazy!
