Glider Elevator Ride Up Mount Nebo

Glider flying up the face of Mt. Nebo just east of Nephi, Utah using and climbing in the winds coming off the face of the mountain. The glider is an ASW20B 15-meter sailplane piloted by Bruno Vassel IV (B4).

It would be a piece of cake with your experience to get your glider add on. You need to go up at least once and see for yourself how amazing soaring really is. My guess is that OAT was in the low 30's that day up at that altitude but due to the greenhouse effect of the canopy I am usually pretty warm. For some people gliders with motors are wonderful. For others, not so much. More than 80% of all new gliders being manufactured now come with some sort of propulsion. That said, it is very different in the USA vs rest of the world. Motorgliders in the USA are not as popular as those elsewhere. For me, the risk of landing out in a farmer's field is exciting and helps keep soaring cross country so fun and rewarding. I don't know if I can get home. It keeps the blood flowing. Bruno
