What's the best free editing software? Capcut? DaVinci Resolve? HitFilm Express? I put them all to the test by editing the same video in each one. This video is not sponsored, so you can trust that my opinion is non-biased. I hope this helps someone make an informed decision!

RIP Sony Vegas, my first ever video editor 🕊

I recently started learning DaVinci from editing with Vegas for many years. I am kicking myself for not switching sooner, it’s actually so intuitive and it’s insane how much you can do even with the free version.

DaVinci resolve is hands-down the best video editing software out there. Even the free version is great!

It's admirable that you do animations like this is Premiere at all. As someone who uses Resolve and Fusion a lot, there is a reason why animation tools are designed for animating. Fusion and After Effects would make this process so much easier, especially in regards to motion blur.

Got inspired by you and started a YouTube channel a few years ago! I learned editing from your tutorials and now, I've finally reached 100k subs! Thank you, Finzar!

Just a Qucik tip for anyone using Davinci.
Its better to use Transform in the Fusion page(nodes) there are a lot of options and oh yeah you can just turn on Motion blur in Fusion transform you can also adjust it to your liking right in the node.
So if you are using Resolve I highly recommend learning how to use Nodes in Fusion. It's not that hard and it will improve your editing 10x.

I know this is a 4 month old video, but for those wondering, Hitfilm Express has not been updated in several years after Artlist abandoned it. When the forums were shut down, I ditched HF and went to DR, and am now on 19.1.3 on a new build, based on the Core 7 Ultra (265K) processor. Previous boxes were 2 older SFF Dell Optiplexes running older versions of DR.

I don't recommend animating stuff in davinci edit page (assuming you want it as smooth as possible), it's kinda chalked.
Doing it in fusion is so much better (also theres motion blur setting in the fusion transform nodes). For anyone not using fusion, LEARN IT it's so good once you understand it.

I dropped adobe about 6 or so months ago and moved to Davinci...
once i found out how to use multiple displays with it, it became super comfortable to use and ive been slowly getting better n better with it.

As somebody who has been working with the desktop version of capcut, you can keyframe effects, blur CAN be increased or decreased using keyframes, and you can also change directions in the motion blur effect, and since it's free there is no pirating if you downgrade, i use uptodown and stick with the 4.0 version which doesn't even have the pro blocks, yet still has all the transitions, only thing they added with version 5 is previewing(skimping) audio, at least that's what i noticed, AND THE ADJUSTMENT LAYERS ARE THERE!!!

So what you should know is that even in the free version of DavinciResolve you can use motion blur in your animations. So when you make the animation instead of editing it in Fusion (the thing with the nodes), you can check motion blur and adjust values like the strength or the shutter angle. Great video though <3

The intro is crazy. Loved this vid! The fact that you got so much out of those free software's baffles me lmao.

For anyone curious: the fusion tab in davinci is super helpful and makes it easier to do the smoother transformations he was talking about. Yeah nodes suck, but some things are very simple. The spline editor is fantastic. You can also apply motion blur according to the movement.

dont consider filmora free to be an option. you cant even export without the worlds most atrocious watermark ever made, right in the middle of the screen through the whole video🔥🔥🔥

I've been using Davinci Resolve for more than 2 years, but I learned a lot more in this video. Thank you Finzar, you really are the founder of editing!

Hey Finzar, I really loved your content; you blow my mind to some points of my career. I've been working as an editor for over 5 years, and now I'm looking to expand and work internationally. I started creating content about editing to see if I can attract clients, and I hope it works out, haha.
