"After years of saving and waiting for the GPU prices to go back to normal, I finally got myself an RTX 3080!" –Anonymous, year 2077

I finally was able to get GPU at MSRP. I was on the EVGA waiting list for about 11 months now and they finally allowed me to purchase a 3060 Ti for $469 + shipping and tax.

I've honestly just kept my old graphics cards. What's even more interesting is developers and even processor manufacturers are aware that most gamers are still using the 1000 series graphics cards. I have yet to see anything so extraordinary or "game-changer" to force me to switch. If I can get my hand on a 3070 at retain price, then great. If not, then oh freaking well.

In my opinion, it would be fantastic if they made separate graphics cards for miners and gamers.

The quality of this video is absolutely ridiculous for the level of subs you have. I started watching back when you did the optiplex videos and it’s been crazy watching you grow. Great job man

I refuse to pay $1600+ for an $800 GPU. I have just settled with playing games at lower FPS as my Vega 64 continues to be space heater and turbine engine simulator. Still able to hit high FPS marks in the competitive games I play mostly, though I was really hoping for a 6800xt or 3080 or higher by the time Halo came out but sadly that did not happen. Here's hoping to holiday 2022!

This was the most interesting gpu video that I've watched. I can actually say I learned something, rather than listened to the same rants. Well done man thank you

This is hands down the best explanation on how we're here in this gpu mess.

Finally after months of community posts, we get the long-awaited upload. Welcome back! Sucks we're in a situation like this and I really wanted to build my first pc. Do you think black Friday deals would have an effect on the gpu prices? Don't want to be the one that paid my kidney for a gpu today and tomorrow, it's the price of a grain of bean

So... which of these options appeals to you the most? Have you thought about changing your mind on what you're going to do about getting your hands on a GPU, or did you already get you hands on one?

And I need to issue a correction. The Evergiven is owned by Evergreen, a Taiwanese company, not a Chinese company. Next time I'll double check my sources.

I've managed to get three GPUs through Newegg shuffle. They weren't necessarily what I would have chosen if the market has been "normal", but they were okay. Yes, they were bundled, which was not great, and yes, they were above launch MSRP, but at least they were not at scalper prices. At this point, I've stepped away from the market. I have what I need for now and have been able to get GPUs for myself and friends and family who needed PCs, I don't want to contribute to the madness. I'm ready to just ride it out at this point. I still register for the Newegg shuffle, but whereas originally I would taken anything that came along, now I'm more selective about what I would register for and what I would choose to purchase.

I've managed to get my hands on a 3060 Ti, 5600X and B550 Tomahawk for an amazing price and I couldn't be more happy to replace my 6 y/o PC. The fact that I can sell my 1060 for almost the same price I paid for it is the cherry on top.

Well thank goodness you're back. It's been a nice to listen to a rational analysis of where we are. When Jensen announced the RTX 3080 it caused a depression in the value in GTX1080Ti GPUs. When he made the crack about it was finally safe to move away from Pascal that seemed to do the trick. I was fortunate enough to buy an EVGA GTX1080Ti FTW3 for $345. Quite frankly it seems to give me all the performance I need in a GPU for the games I play. What I really want to do is buy the correctly balanced motherboard, memory and CPU for this GPU. I want it to be second hand from EBay (as always). I'm currently running it in an old HP Z420 workstation with an E5-1650V2 CPU and I know the old cpu and motherboard are causing bottleneck issues with the outdated instruction set but I don't know enough about the next generations of six and eight core cpus to pick the sweet spot. I know I'm not your target demo (I'm a retired 66 year old) but I game Destiny2, Control, No mans Sky, Forza and in the past games like Witcher 3. Any suggestions on the most cost effective (retired, remember) CPU family would be gratefully received.

I just bought a used 980 on Facebook. It was pretty cheap and it’s still a beast to this day when it comes to the titles I’m interested in playing

A few years ago, people were saying things like "these are the best times to be a PC gamer" and whatnot. Every single aspect of PC building is increasing in price. Flagship CPUs used to cost $400, now they're $700, good mobos cost $150, really good ones cost $200 and the most overkill ones used to cost $300 - those prices are now $250, $350 and $800 respectively. Great dual tower coolers used to cost $50 and those were all that you needed, nowadays you need to spend $150 and above on simply cooling your high-end CPU (especially if you go Intel route that is). Decent PSUs are $150 and up, they used to be $100, the only good thing is that multi-GPU is dead so less people need 1000W or more. Also, people are paying stupid amounts of money for tiny ITX cases, material cost of which is a 1/4 of an ATX case.

Respect! You really present the best and most intelligent big picture of the current situation.

The inability to buy one when I had planned has honestly turned me off the high end graphics hype. I'm no longer looking for a gpu, msrp or no.

I was able to get a GTX 1660 Super in a prebuilt PC that I bought for $1100 in June this year. I'm pretty new to the whole PC/GPU scene but I know the basics, and I consider myself kinda lucky that I got a pretty good PC with a good GPU for a reasonable price, and it runs all my games well. Now the only problem is gonna be picking a GPU when I decide to build my own PC.

I stopped looking for a GPU. I've been gaming with a GTX 1080 so long, I realized I didn't need it that badly. Besides, the only reason I wanted one was for VR and most new VR headsets don't fit my IPD so I've kinda given up on VR for now. The 1080Ti FTW3 I have in my VR rig isn't even being used and I see no need to swap it into my regular gaming rig. I got tired of the Best Buy Shuffle, so I don't even check for cards that much. Ironically, Microcenter had 6800XT and 6900XT's in stock but I will never pay those prices.
