I think this really is something that many many people do not realize. I have a medical background - which means that sometimes …I know too much for my own good 😅

When I got pregnant 7 months ago, the first month was floods of anxiety over that could go wrong.

But the further along I got, and the more diagnostic imaging (ultrasound), blood tests, etc that I went through, the more at ease I feel - even though I still know that there are many dangerous things that can happen while giving birth or just after.

Trying to keep my cool 😎

I am a survivor of an amniotic fluid embolism. So this statement I can’t relate to. but it is so rare the hospital I delivered in said it had been 10 years since they saw anything like my delivery!

My nonna who had 8 always use to say that a pregnant woman has one foot in and one foot out of the tomb. She saw many women die in childbirth during her 85yrs on earth😢
😢😢

For real! These dangers need to be taught in high school health class!

I nearly died. Postpartum is statistically even more dangerous. Eclampsia/PRES Syndrome made me suddenly go blind, bleeding out on the 6th day after delivery in a maternity desert and left me with lasting health issues.

Ive always worried about preeclampsia and hemorrhaging after birth and miscarriages and all the funky diseases or misplaced body bits the baby can have (all things towards the end of pregnancy). Going into my second trimester this week hoping my hyperemesis gravidarum chills and just had my second round of SCH evacuation this weekend (HOPEFULLY it was just an sch. Going to see my OB this week on monday or tuesday to check on things). This pregnancy nonsense is wild.

i almost died giving birth to my first daughter because the doctor forced my water
to break when i wasn’t dilated fully… took 3 blood transfusions to stabilize me if not more…and then with my next i couldn’t get out of bed without severe pain or discomfort and no one would take me seriously…

I do have to say that I underestimated it myself. With my first I had high blood pressure > so I was induced. Second I had meconium and shoulder dystocia. And now in my third (I am 35+4) I have cholestatis. I really don't know how I hit all these different dangers along my pregnancies and deliveries 😅

Especially in the US where we have some of the absolute worst outcomes for women and their babies in the developed world.

My daughter died in july of chorioamnionitis. Went transverse for 3 days and died because of docrors telling me the pain is in my head and me begging them to save her. Im now about to go to court for it. Also, i had been admitted for 2 weeks u til that poiint due to my water fully breaking at 7 months. They knew what they had to do to save her, snd didnt. Why? Bevsuse they didnt beleieve the amount of pain i was in.

Doctor, my sister is expecting. Is drinking soda like sprite and cola healthy? She loves cold sprite!

I think it might be an age thing I was pregnant at 22 and didn’t get prenatal care until my last week due to financial issues and a lot of anxiety associated with giving birth and being pregnant and nothing went wrong, even got to deliver naturally baby and I were perfectly healthy 😊
