Wow. Lots of outboards there. The craftsman is already making a wake. Lol. It will be funny when I make mine because over 5hp needs to be registered. Probably be the only one in SC with a registered Briggs and Stratton

I think you should put a belt on it and a carb and sell it for around $600. Would help out with some projects I'm sure. Could get another engine for a third of that price.

It mows great and looks great keep it as a back up to mow, good engines are easy to find for other projects

Most briggs ohc single cyl 18-19 hp have a known issue, plastic timming gear breaks and allows the cam to jump time.
Not sure if its every brand....but i have 4 john deere 16-19s all identical problem.if your lucky your has the metal gear.
So if you use it....i wouldnt abuse it.
I just pulled off a running 19 ohc and swapped in a old flathead much happier.

Clean the small holes in the emulsion tube with a single strand from a wire brush. That should fix your surging issue.

HA, muddy... this is one of the driest summers i have ever seen here. all the mud pits are dryed and cracked dirt. its rained 1 time in 3 months.
