backseated to take hoses off, mid seated to check refrigerant pressures.

low stage contactor, high stage contactor American Standard has a condenser that has 2 compressors installed inside.

There are some key points missing here. This looks like a 187ANA Carrier/Bryant condenser with the 2-stage bristol reciprocating compressor. I'm guessing 4 ton based on the size and cap values. The hard start kit may have too small a cap for this unit, particularly at higher ambients when pressure will be higher. He showed a ~340 microfarad factory start cap, which had failed open (zero capacitance). Some of these hard start kits have 100 microfarad caps. He should've measured the kit cap. This unit may not start reliably at high ambients if the kit cap is significantly less than the factory value. Replacing the fan run cap was a good move. Fan speed may have topped out at 80% of the rated speed with the run cap at 4 instead of 7.5 microfarad. I'm guessing he verified the compressor run cap was good, although that is not shown. He did not check the old start relay, so we don't know if contacts fused and that killed the start cap.

What are you measuring on the capacitors? OHMs? I'm new to HVAC and I'm taking some community college classes ATM. Trying to learn all I can haha. Subbed to your channel 👍 great info for free on here
