I think they look good. We need to wait to see if they'll fold, because that was a nice feature on the xm4's. I think the most Sony could improve on a new version of headphones by improving Ambient Mode so it sounds more natural, like you said, Sony is infamous because their ambient mode is far behind other brands, and probably sound. Xm4's sound was good, but not that pure in an audiophile way, which is something they could change

I'm willing to give the XM5s a shot, but I just really LOVE the design of the XM4s I think it's the perfect balance of curvy, and sleek but also that more generic normal headphone look.

XM5s look Good too, like they're taking design ques from both Bose QC 700 and the Apple Airpod Max's, but I'm just not vibing with it as much as the XM4 design.

But if they have the features of the XM4s and Sound quality that beats out the Airpod Max's or even Drop Pandas, then I'm 100% sold, because they'll literally be THE best Wireless headphones on the market

I like the look of these headphones. I agree with you on traveling with them and the case taking up room in your bag or suitcase. For the price, you would want them in a case. Not concerned on whether or not they are foldable. As long as they sound good. I mainly use over the ear headphone indoors. Watching vids and listening to music. Oh, welcome back!!!

Big circle on new Linkbuds could be a vent. Imagine only blocking 1% of ambient sound while having a silicone tip for a tight seal and great bass. That's what I'm hoping.

The headphones look like a response to the Apple headphones, but I can't wait for the older models to drop in price due to this new release

If the XM5 gets an upgrade in the sound department I can live with their looks. If the sound is the same, I would go with the XM4 and save some money.

Over the ear headphones are great at home. Walking around, going to the beach or traveling, portable stuff like pods, buds or whatever is great.

I like the new look and also didn't have a problem with the previous look.
I prefer earbuds for handsfree calling and traditional over the ear headphones for media consumption even though both styles of headphones can handle both (phone calls and media consumption)

🙌🏾 they look nice looks like the blue B&W headphones you had/have. I still rock my XM4’s and Crusher Evo’s so still think my next over ear headphones are the AirPods Max!

I agree so much. They got their inspiration from the Bose NC700. Tbh. the hype of the headset will live. Regardless of updates on earbuds, they will never match the battery life, ANC, or the sound quality of headset headphones. I can still imagine people buying it. However, earbuds are quite convenient when exercising.

If they can give a big boost to sound quality, especially for Spatial Audio on Apple Music, which sounds better on the WF-1000XM4 than the WH-1000XM4, and if this new design stops all the creaking issues of the current design, then I'll be happy. But with how good the WF-1000XM4 are, I rarely use my WH-1000XM4 now, so I'm hoping that will change.

I dunno about the general market, but I definitely still prefer some good over the ear headphones over earbuds. Earbuds are really cool and innovative, but there's nothing quite like headphones for me. Not to mention I'm just usually able to get better sound, and comfort from headphones. Earbuds are nice for the convenience, as well as they don't make your ears sweaty when you're out and about, but I'll always love headphones

Totally agree with you on that VPT FEATURE that's what the earbuds was missing..too bad they didn't bring that feature back.. If enough people complain maybe they will bcuz that gave the over the ears THE BEST sound to me

Headphones every day, over-ear. I don’t have to worry about earbuds falling out of my ears, and they consistently sound the same. I don’t have to wiggle them back in my ears, plus I think they sound more natural. I only use earbuds when I’m working outside, like mowing.

#1. First and foremost, It's great to see you back and on the attack!

#2. I think this version of Sony has borrowed styling cues from Bose 700 as well as others in things such as the joints, that you pointed out. Personally, I prefer the current/older style but I wouldn't pitch a fit over the new design. If the headphone is affordable I'd consider buying it.

#3. I think HEADPHONES as opposed to Earphones service different purposes and are not going away. It may well be that marketers are more focused on the various types of earbud types for the general population but the on the head headphones are going to be around for the foreseeable future in my opinion.

I agree, I much prefer the old design like the XM4's over the XM5's, but I think the more I look at it the more I'll like them. But I can see myself changing from my XM4, not a chance.
And tbh, nowadays I see myself using my AirPods Pro much more than my XM4. Yeah when I'm travelling I use my headphones, but if I study in the library or at a cafe shop, I'll just use my earbuds, it's easier to carry.
