This has to be one of the absolute best channel on YouTube! Between the battlefield tours and short clips like these the knowledge doesn't stop pouring in! Thank you.

SInce she was loyalist, she was still loyal to the king. So i'm sure in her mind she was no traitor. She could only really be considered a traitor if she's first come out in favor of the revolution. first supported it then betrayed it.

I’m enjoying these short clips. I hope more are coming.

A beauty and flirt, Peggy Shippen knew she could sweet talk her way out of anything. George Washington actually felt sorry for her after Benedict Arnold's betrayal. Almost immediately after her return to Loyalist circles, she revealed her true feelings. Peggy believed that the British were more "upmarket" than the Americans. It is unlikely her relationship with Andre ever went beyond friendship.

She's a traitor. I wonder if Washington was suspicious of her but decided to let it drop since she was a woman and he knew her family.

I think her actions make her a survivor. The separation from Britian wasn't popular with everyone. Some people truly saw it as betrayal to who they were. America's founding fathers weren't from America...
I think she's both hero and traitor, but first and foremost she's a survivor.

I'm a big fan of hers. Need to read a biography or two.

In a woman's case, they were not hanged. Even in the CW, which men were. It was a Victorian time, for lack of a better word

Betrayal ? England was her country. The rebels at the time were the traitors. Of course, you get to write history if you win.

Peggy was no traitor, she was always loyal to the British cause due to America being a British Colony, to call her a traitor shows no insite. She is a HERO.

Clearly both, depending upon one's perspective. Much like confederates and unionists of the ACW.

For Americans she was a traitor to them but to my Island of Great Britain and Ireland people and me she was a hero she managed to get one of Americans traitor rebel Generals Benedict Arnold to join our side since the Americans didn’t like him even before he defected to my people side since the Americans thought he actions in the Battle of Saratoga were not heroic or great-fully even though they gave the rebels an advanced of gaining more countries of military support from Spain, France and Dutch but still the Rebellion Congress didn’t want him at all and didn’t gave his rewards that he deserved and gave it to General Haratio Gates and other 4 Generals since they thought they were the real heroes of Saratoga when they weren’t but still it was the rebel Congress fault for turning there best General of the war against them at that time in 1777 when he needed them the most at least he tried his best to do payback on the Congress for betraying him by giving my people the fort of West Point to us to win the war by splitting New England away from the rest of the colonies like Pennsylvania but still tragically that the brave honourable war hero of my people Major John Andre got unfortunately captured by American Rebel scouts and the plan was exposed tragically and Major John Andre got tragically hanged executed with the Americans cheering and laughing at him being hanged for being honourable and noble since they don’t value it and Brigadier General Benedict Arnold had to high tail escape before he would be arrested and executed since the American rebels were brutal and very dishonourable indeed they would never have even let Major John Andre go back to his army even if they captured General Benedict Arnold since they think killing everyone who’s not with the Congress is just fun amusement but at least before the war ended at least Brigadier General Arnold help my army’s people win 3 more battles before the war’s end with them called Raid of Richmond, the battle of Blandford and the Battle of Groton Heights while it’s sad that a whole lot of North America People will continue hating Brigadier General Arnold for me, I felt sorry that reality was against him and hated him even when he was once a hero but at least he did fought and win battles very well even if one damage his leg in a battle but at least he was still a good military leader for battles still and impressive that he and his wife Peggy lived very well together in London with having a family of 5 children with all 4 sons of there join the British military forces and with one of them also who’s called James Robertson Arnold became a Lieutenant General in the Army also and was awarded the medal services of Order of the Crescent and the Royal Guelphic Order not to bad for an high ranking General soldier with 2 award services right guys but for me Piggy Shippen is my favourite loyalists hero since she managed to get a traitor from our side to rejoin our forces even though it was very tragic it cost my people one of our most honourable and noble heroes the very brave Major John Andre you’ll be missed very much brave Major hope the Gods of light and good give you the afterlife of good for your brave honourable courage from that tragic war indeed and your family too indeed
