Another way to tell is the Music, in 3 or 4 Stars the Beat is Ascending in the Scale, while the 5 Star is an Octave Higher and the notes are Descending the Scale

You can also tell by the ticket if you got a 4-star. You see a faint trail of tickets for a four-star (Like with a five star), unlike a 3-star where you get nothing at all.
