Install Windows 11 on VMWare - The Easiest Way

Bob Pellerin "CTOBOB" shows how to install Windows 11 as a virtual machine running on a VMware ESXi 7.0 server.

Windows 11, since it is not a production ready product at this time, should NOT be used in a production environment. Using it as such could cause loss of functionality and loss of data.

This setup is one way to test new operating systems as well as software safely as they can be "self contained". Running it in a virtual machine (VM) reduces the risk of letting viruses, malware, ransomware or such unwanted programs damage or alter other systems in your infrastructure.

If you're going to run a lot of tests, VMware provides you with a feature called snapshots which act as a temporary backup. Simply take a snapshot, install test software and then restore the virtual machine back in a few easy steps to undo everything. Snapshots should not be used for long term storage and do not replace backups, for anyone unfamiliar with the feature.

While we don't recommend download unofficial, or any software from sources other than the manufacturers or the Microsoft Store directly. When you're unsure, be safe by making sure to "sandbox" your tests.

We will be releasing a Windows 11 video shortly to show the look and feel in more depth.

I think you cannot install Windows 11 anymore w/ BIOS selected because of missing vTPM (an emulated TPM 2.0).
