That is I can appreciate this because I'm a woman and I'm a dairy farmer. My hands have calluses and my nails are non existent. Hands like this are hands of hard work, blood sweat and tears. You are an amazing beautiful hard working woman! Only difference between you and I is that I'm constantly covered in cow shit hahahaha😂

Auctions are one of a homesteader's best friends. You can find ones that are selling construction materials, estate auctions that have everything. A tiller would be nice to have for the garden and I bet you could find one for cheap at an estate auction of an old man's possessions. You can have a bigger garden and grow things to can so you have food all winter.

The good news is there’s trees, brush, bushes, grass and weeds all over the place on your property. That means stuff will grow in the soil.

This looks satisfying. What did you do before you took on your new lifestyle?

Oh honey, I wish I'd seen you before you did this.
If you'd get you a pitch fork you could turn that dirt over better and it will be easier to get it broke up.
I've done what your attempting to do., so every little tip helps.
I went to a friend's Uncle that had farmed and asked questions and found out better ways for a few things.
Good luck and stay strong girl 👍👌🫰💜💜

Is there any other way??? My dad taught me to do most everything i need to do outside with a rake, shovel, pick, hoe, clippers, weedeater, lawnmower, hammer, screwdrivers, drill, saw, square and a level. I have made many gardens and kept up the yard with that. I have dug out and made a basketball court. You can do a whole lot with very little, as long as you have will, elbow grease, and a drop of common sense.

Fabulous! Were you able to do all of this and still have to work full time to support yourself? Or did you have enough money laid by in order to be able to afford to do this and live day to day and eat & pay taxes and property tax? I'm asking seriously not joking. I really would like to know how it is possible to do this. Since I am on a fixed income and yet still have to work part-time for now. Especially since making a homestead from scratch would be a full-time

Let me introduce you to a little thing called Hugel culture gardening, where you don’t break your back raking away debris but instead use it to supplement your soil/compost you aren’t blowing so much money on soil deliveries (dear lord I hope you aren’t buying individual bags). You need to know what kind of wood you have in the area and how to compost and you’re good for making a quick, very cheap raised bed with a great soil ecology due to not tearing up all the natural mycology and insect/invertebrate biodiversity by tilling the soil until it’s on life support. Easier, cheaper, better results - really hard to find fault with it besides it maybe taking a bit more patience and research or the aesthetics (which I argue are cute)

A good set of work gloves go a long way but hey, you earned those working woman's hands plus those are battle wounds! Besides, nothing good comes easy thank God! And at least the rewards are so much more than the risks blood sweat and tears anyways! God bless beautiful! 💯♥️💪🥰🙌❤️‍🩹🌈🙏

I tell my employees they get $10.00 for every blister they get, and $20.00 for calluses.

You can protect the hands with some gloves. Looks like you will be working with them for a while. It may affect you later in life.
