I’ve never been taught the basics of gardening. This video is so dang helpful. Thank you SO much!!

I started covering my raised beds with pecan leaves in the fall and then there is no reason to till the soil. Once you remove the leaves the soil is the softest and blackest soil I’ve seen. And I can tell you this year where we did this the tomatoes are 3xs the size as the other beds. I’ve also read where you can cover the beds with tarps in the fall and then no need to till spring too. But I know some people just like to till the soil. Love your videos though. And I if you need to till the soil really like the first two tools you showed the best. Thanks.

I'm surprised you didn't include a digging hoe? I've found them so easy to use. Someone noticed they're used in the developing world when they're clearing whole fields, so he tried one, and wrote a great review, so I tried one too, and I love it. You swing it into the ground, (bit like a pickaxe or sledge hammer but much easier to swing) then if hard ground, you just push the handle forward, levering the ground up, and bingo, earth breaks up. If softer ground, you just pull it toward you after swinging it into the earth, and it softens and breaks the ground. My back doesn't hurt afterwards either, and it's worth it for that alone, let alone it's pleasanter/easier to use than spade or fork, and goes deeper than the cultivator in the video. Please try one and you won't look back!

That was helpful for a beginning gardener like me. I have raised beds much like yours, so I've learned more on how to till the soil. Thank you.

This was helpful thank you! We have a big tiller but I’ve been trying to figure out a hand one for my smaller garden. Even just to help get weeds out

I’ve always wondered how heavy rocks raise to the surface of my garden.🧐

I have loved your flower beds since you made them. That was a while ago lol. I can't grow anything, I have a black thumb as I say. But I learned how to till so thanks!

I prefer the first tool except I slam it down instead of using the foot part. It goes faster that way. For especially compacted soil, the fork is great to start with.

Such a great video! I really want to start gardening. I’d be interested to hear how or where you bought your flowerbeds. Also, what are you planting this year? Keep up the great work!

I have tried the no-digging method...but for some reason my plants grow better when I do the 'tilling' method by just using a regular shovel.
