I always liked the clothing Langer wore for the final round. That spells confidence right there.

Chip Beck said afterwards, when you have a wedge in your hands, it’s a great opportunity to make a birdie. Trouble is - Langer also had that same opportunity. Beck needed to try for eagle here.

Dan Forsman was the only name I didn't recognise on the front page of the leaderboard but when I saw how he played 12 I understood why. Don't think he contended again in a major after that.

Incredible how slow those greens are compared to today's standards. The shot Beck hit into 14 would have rolled 20 fee more to the right. As a PGA Professional that is why the average score hasn't changed still in 30 years because hitting the golf ball is easier, but chipping it and putting it are more difficult as greens speeds are pushing 10 plus on most courses.
