Group 1 Metal | Periodic table

Показать описание
1. The Alkali Metals form Group I of The Periodic Table, and called so because they form oxides and hydroxides that dissolve in water to give alkaline solutions.
2. They form the first element of a period, with one outer electron. This outer electron similarity makes them behave in a chemically similar way
3. They are so reactive that they must be stored under oil to minimise reaction with oxygen or water vapour in air.

melting and boiling point is actually decrease moving down the group. As you can see its because of the atomic size is increase from top to bottom so the ionization energy is decreases because IE is inversly proportional to atomic size. logically, when IE decrease, melting and boiling point also decrease. correct me if im wrong.
