The hybrid is totally possible, just consider 3 things.
1. Ps vita remote play: Don't think about it being the handheld graphics being stretched to a bigger screen, think about it the way around, the bigger screen graphics in a small console.
2. Nvidia's Tegra X1: That's a mobile processor and GPU/APU capable of graphics beyond the ps3 and xbox 360, if something along those lines goes to the hybrid it would be a homerun.
3. Console pricing: Don't market it as a handheld, market it as a console that you can take wherever you want to, people pay from 500 to 1.000 dollars for good smartphones, even if Nintendo got hurt charging "too much" for both the Wii u and 3ds they won't if they advertise the capabilities of their hybrid, people would buy it for 500 dollars easily, especially hard core gamers and early adopters.

I'm 17 and I still play Nintendo, and I own a 3DS! Yeah, that's right! Call me a virgin and a little kid all you want but, at least I do have a girlfriend and I actually have a social life with lots of And Xbox One is for COD fans with screaming kids in the microphone, and PS4 is for people who love movies and other stuff, not many people play video games on a PS4 anymore.... when you could just buy a DVR, And, Nintendo will never get boring, I grew up playing
