Beer, dirndl and lederhosen. You're familiar with the Oktoberfest, but what's really going on here? What would you like to know about the festival? Euromaxx reporter Hallie Rawlinson comes from the US, has been living in Germany for many years and knows the Oktoberfest like the back of her hand. It's the biggest beer festival in the world and has been taking place for more than 200 years in the southern German city of Munich. That's all very well and good. But: what are the absolute musts when you're there? And what are the big no-nos? And why does it take place in September? Hallie Rawlinson is at the Wiesn, as it's also known colloquially, orders herself a beer or two and answers the most frequently asked questions about the Oktoberfest in Munich.

Tip the waiters!! Apparently each waitress group is their own sub-contractor, buying the order on their cost and reselling it with +0, 90€...damn these girls deserve all support 😬🔥

It's fun and enjoyable to go to Germany and drink beer and eat good German food.

3:16 It seems more popular to tuck your hand under the handle and support it with your thumb, as you can see other people in the video doing

F’n Reservations!? Was so saddened when I went about 15 years ago and no tent would let me in. Had no idea that I had to pre register or how to do it. So my friend and I walked around and listened to all the fun from the outside. Kind of sucked. And oh, you forgot to mention the “too drunk” tent for drunks injuries.

A buddy of mine (at the time a merchant marine) ported during Oktoberfest. He said there are three days to his life he doesn't remember 😂

Is there a good reason why they put up and down the tents and Luna Park every year and not leave them there permanently? They start building from June/July and everything is packed again November/December only to start all over again next year! Isn't there a cost with that? Couldn't they make use of the tents and Luna parks for other occassions throughout the year? Theresienwiese's Tollwood Winterfestival, Volkfest, Frühlingsfest etc. could share the same tents and Luna Parks instead of each festival building their own every year. Is this because of the German mentality "because it has always been like that?"😂

munich is beautiful but the people are far too snooty for me to ever revisit. its a shame. i remember buying a pretzel and trying to sit down in the restaurant i bought it in, and being told i wasn't allowed to, despite being a paying customer. very unwelcoming city. go elsewhere.

Fun fact: a few of those beer tents were shipped over to Afghanistan for the first Loya Jirgas after the fall of the Taliban.
