Sorry to resurrect this video from the catacombs but I wanted to ask you what are the make and models of the watches you are using to demo with. BTW, great videos. Keep up the good work. There are so many watches on the market that all look alike that you can tell a quality one from a ghetto dud. You are one of the very few that has quality content in your reviews and how-to videos.

Wanna have some fun? One of our viewers offered up the following suggestion to learn way more about your watch than you thought you could know. I love this stuff!!! Thanks Harry!!!

He advised that you go to the phone app to bring up the keypad and then tap in the following:  * # * # 4636 # * # *

It didn't come through correctly on YouTube, so he sent the following clarification:

Posted by Harry M.J. Dekkers:
"Strange the stars disapperaer. So i put it like that: star # star # 4636 # star # star ( star means asterics symbol)"

I tried it on my ZGPAX S8 watch and it worked! Hope it works for you too....

PHONE CALLS TO/FROM TETHERED SMARTWATCHES

There's a lot of confusion as to how these watches, when tethered to a phone actually handles calls. OK, let's settle this with facts. I have my LG G3 running latest KitKat tethered to my No.1 G2 and we're going to make and receive some calls from a tethered watch.

1. Calling out from the watch. What happens?
If the phone was dark, it lights up and goes into the phone dialer app and places the call. When the call is connected, at the bottom, it indicates it is routing the call to Bluetooth (bottom right button). When the call answers you listen and speak from the watch. If you want to take the call on the phone instead, after it is connected, you can either tap the Bluetooth button to send the call back to the phone, or tap the Speaker button on the bottom left of the phone screen and the call will be routed to the phone's speaker. If you want to go back to the watch, just tap the Bluetooth button and you're back on the watch. Both the watch and phone have End buttons to terminate the call. They both have Mute buttons as well, and you can mute/unmute the call from the device you are using to speak from.

2. Calling out from the phone. What happens?
If you are bluetooth connected to your watch, the call from your phone works just like the call from your watch. The call goes through, and the Bluetooth button is active, routing the call to the watch. Didn't want that? No problem. Either touch the Bluetooth button to take the call private on your phone, or touch the Speaker button to go into phone speaker mode.

1. Receiving a call. What happens?
As expected, both the phone and watch ring. You can slide to answer or cancel from either the phone or watch. If you answer on the watch, you hear and speak from the watch. You have the End and Mute buttons as before, and a speaker icon in the upper right to adjust your call volume. When you open your phone, you'll find you're in your dialer app and the Bluetooth button is activated. Tap it to take the call private on your phone or tap Speaker as we discussed before. Now, if you answer with your phone instead of your watch everything is normal except the Bluetooth button is activated and the call is routed to your watch. Your watch wakes up and receives the call just as if you had answered with your watch. To get the call back on the phone, tap the Bluetooth button and the call is on your phone. Tap again and the call hops back to your watch.

Remember, your phone is control central for routing calls. Your watch will answer, hang up, mute, unmute, but that's all. Transferring of the call between devices happened from your phone. There is no way I know of to have the call, when answered by the phone, stay on the phone without touching the Bluetooth button, but that only takes a second so you can have phone connection before the normal time it would take to say "Hello".

PHONE CALLS TO/FROM CROSSOVER SMARTWATCHES

Now, the above process appears to be the normal way all these tethered watches handle calls, even the crossover ones with their own SIM card. In that case, only the tethered calls can go back and forth with the originating tethered phone. Calls to the SIM number on the watch stay on the watch. They aren't tetherable to the phone.

PHONE CALLS TO/FROM STANDALONE SMART WATCH PHONES

Finally, for the true, untethered standalone Android smart watch phones, Apparently they assume you won't be tethering at all, so they work exactly like a standard smart phone. Eventually, as the market matures, I think it will become clear that we want both independent capability on our standalones and codependent connection with our actual phones, so the same basic call tethering will emerge even on the standalone devices. For now, the only option I know of is the Google Play Store app "SWAPP Link" (Smart Watch APP Link) which allows you to answer and hang up calls from the standalone watch, but the sound stays on the phone. You can get your notification and do a few other cool things, but no sound back and forth over the required Bluetooth link. It's more like a remote control device when it comes to calls.

PHONE CALLS TO/FROM APPLE WATCH

Since it appears the actual first generation Apple Watch will be a tethered watch to your top-of-the-line iPhone running the absolute latest iOS, your phoneology will probably be like a tethered phone, but we don't know until the thing arrives. When one of you gets one, please post here how it works, OK? The Apple Watch clone we picture here in several videos works just like the standard tethered watch described above for the No.1 S2.

PHONE CALLS TO/FROM ANDROID WEAR SMARTWATCHES

I have no experience in this area. Since there are several out and many folks using them, can one of you please tell us how you handle phone calls from your Android Wear? Is it like the basic tethered watch or something different? Thanks!

What are recommendations for the best iOS compatible tethered smartwatch that is waterproof to the extent that it can be worn while swimming for under $100?

Wtf. I search for videos about smart watches and it gives me almost 10 year old videos. The video itself is we'll made and I have nothing against it. I don't expect you to put out updates every week.

I do expect the search to give me relevant results, though. It's like getting 5 year old videos in your news.
