Great video Jason, what I like to do while recording guitars is use a radial di box. The way I have mine setup is I can play for example with a delay while recording but it just sends the dry di track to be recorded even though I'm playing with my desired effect at the time. I then use a radial reamp box to send that dry recorded signal back out to the amp where I can then dial in whatever effect I'm working with while hearing it with the whole mix. Re Amping is the best method I believe when recording with real amps, not only can you add and tweak your effects, you can get the amp itself dialed in for that mix and even play around with mic placement while your mix is playing back, then once you find your desired sound, hit record and let it do its thing. This method allows you to focus on getting your guitar playing rite first without worrying about dialing in amps and effects. I believe there's no better way and it's not too expensive. I think they have di box/reamps in one unit these days which makes routing even easier.

HUGE thanks man! Thanks to you, I gave it a try recording my amp with my Shure SM57 and I got such an amazing sound within roughly 10-20 minutes! I sit for hours messing with plug ins and it could just be my set up, but I don't have much luck with them. Incredible tutorial sir!

Tried amp simulations for years. It’s not for me. Now I am going to buy a mic. Thanks for the help. You help me out a lot. ❤️

Hey man. I must admit you're getting the best tone I've ever heard in your vids by using a real amp...sounds killer. Have you ever thought of experimenting with an IR loader...say something inexpensive like a Mooer Radar or a Joyo Cab box? You can run your amp straight through it and take the output of the pedal straight to your interface. Use the cab IR of you choice that way. Lots of tone variations. Pretty cool option. There's some great sounding cab IRs out there. Especially for metal.

I must admit a tube amp is just on a different level compared to a solid state. Tube amps just sound natural because they are they’re really warm and harsh frequencies aren’t as present as they are on solid amps

Would a compressor pedal work the same as a compressor plug in ? Awesome video!

Awesome lesson Jason! I’m still trying to get a good guitar sound with a single SM57 but I’m going to buy a 2nd mic soon to blend. But if I’m only recording guitar by itself, should I pan the 70% left and right?

Is it possible to record with a 20 watt solid state with an 8 inch speaker (orange crush 20w) and also how loud should the amp be going into the mic thanks

Hey Jason! Great Video. I assume you recorded your rhythm tracks on channel three right? That being said, what are your thoughts on channel 2? Flubby as others suggest or no? I’ve seen people do c137 mod on this amp to basically make channel 2 sound like the 6l6 Chanel 2, easier to color it up with overdrives etc. Would you ever consider such a mod? I loved the tone you got here btw. 😊

One question. Can I use a compressor and equalizer as Pedals while recording or does it have to be in post?

Okay, So I normally record using Amp Sims cause I'm too cheap to buy a nice tube amp. Recently got a Diezel Mini head for around $300 but its solid state. Does anyone have some tips for getting a studio quality sound out of it?? Or am I fighting a losing battle?
