Dr Tracey Marks nails it again! Best psychiatrist on the interweb, imo.

Being in enough public restrooms in my life and witnessing how many people don't wash their hands and I think about that regularly. I almost never eat food that wasn't prepared by me now.

I used to have these plus a few. If there were two doors into the same room. I would HAVE to exit through the same one I entered. If I touched something weird, like accidentally hitting the wall as I walk by, I would stand there for several minutes touching the wall until I did it "right".
I am so thankful I grew out of these, although every now and again, it comes back

I don't have a diagnosis but I have some "quirks" to say it lightly. I grew up in a dysfunctional family and a lot of expectations were put into my behavior since I was a child. I remember being concerned about the control I had of my body, to the point where I couldn't sleep. The focus will vary but all this though will always start "what if I forget to.... breathe, swallow saliva, hold my pee or how to walk" and how that would be an inconvenience to my mom. Now I "just" have depression, anxiety and CPTSD.

is the root of ocd linked to being in control, not of others, but control over what happens to us, but exaggerated.

What about the other forms of OCD like having to check I locked my door 3 times or something terrible will happen to my home or walking exclusively in 12s or having a panic attack?

Healed my ocd to the point of touching handles again. Touched a few handles, one day didnt worry bout it at all, touched a handle and couldnt wash my hands straight away, pulled the back of my bra down and got a contact dermatitus infection. So ocd borne from experience not just worry is a lot harder to betray

I very much stress over these exact kind of things and often thought i might have ocd but in some ways im messy and in others im a neat freak.. wouldn’t someone with OCD be more consistent with everything needing to be neat etc

That just triggered me and ruined my whole day

I’m called ocd because I want the kitchen table and the counters cleared off of non kitchen junk. The washer and dryer empty in the morning. Laundry folded (or hung in closets) instead if stacked around the house.
Isn’t this ordinary neatness?
