Hurricane Helene leaves daunting clean-up after deadly storm

In the U.S., the aftermath and scale of destruction from Hurricane Helene is extensive with more than 50 dead and millions left without power and days after the powerful hurricane roared ashore, flooding is still ravaging parts of the southeast.

The storm barrelled into Florida’s Big Bend on Thursday as a monstrous category 4 hurricane flattening homes.

As it moved north, Helene dropped more than 60 centimetres of rain in some areas unleashing a torrent of flood water across Georgia, the Carolina’s and nearby states.
