If you want to be an effective pad holder it is important to know how to hold pads for roundhouse body kicks. In this video, Lanny demonstrates how to hold effective pads for kicks.

One of the keys to holding pads for kicks is to let the kick come to you, don't try to meet the kick half way. This will take away the power from the kick and it won't feel good when the kick lands.

I got a short argument with one guy he was like " hold ur pads parallel, because you get worse with every hit " . me not training muay thai as often as i should (mor bjj ) i was like " if i hold them paralel i will hurt my face because there is not stability in that " + i was getting hit at elbow height and i couldnt move my elbow properly for the next few days.Long story short good video.

The gym I train at holds pads just like you. But every video I've ever watched on thai training in Thailand the pad holders always turn sideways for round kicks. I also just trained at Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand and every trainer turned sideways for the round kick. I actually preferred it this way because I got better rotation and extension on my kick. I have a tkd background and have been training muay thai about a year. What are your thoughts on how the Thai's hold pads.
