My family speaks 2 Nigerian languages. Ijaw and Igbo. When I was studying the Kemetic language, I found that they shared so many cognates, I was able to make out a lot of the meanings with no research. It was most obvious with Ijaw. Shu (Sw) is So or Suo in the Ijaw language. It has a layered meaning, but we generally use it to refer to the atmosphere and everything in it (nature). It's most popularly simplified to “sky”, “heaven” or “God” in English. In Ijaw cosmology, So/Suo is a sky diety, just like the Egyptian Shu. Our words also use the “so” root to talk about time.

E.g. So = the beginning/time. Te= suffix meaning “end” or “finish”. Sote = end of time.

In the book Metu Neter by Ra Un Nefer Amen, Apep is electromagnetic energy. Ra came later as all forms of light. Definitely related.
