What is Information Architecture in UX?

Information architecture or IA is a fancy word for how information is structured on a website or mobile app. Similar to building architects using a blueprint to construct every part of a house, from physical structures to more complex inner workings like electrical and plumbing, it’s often a visual representation of a product’s infrastructure, features, interactions, and hierarchy.

There is no set limit to the size or shape of IA. Technical writers, and often UX writers, are tasked with arranging content using web and app architecture to be understandable and easy. Finding the optimal structure depends on the different objectives and goals of the user, as well as the type of product or service.

In this video, we'll explore this more in detail.

Thank you Josh! I have been intereseted in how to analyse the information on a website and across the websites, and your video answered a lot of my questions.
